British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends the current season and will keep her coach for 2026.
Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slam events this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.
Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to regain her health before starting plans for the 2026 season.
Her upcoming training will involve coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season.
The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.
Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.
These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.
Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.
The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.
The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions late this year.
She mentioned that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
