Fans Call for Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A viral video reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was due to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Many followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more message on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual version of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, earning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
