Fresh Details Surface Concerning the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report referencing a confidential source, a practitioner scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family challenged several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
The source also pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
