Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
