Nearly 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the region, producing wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

During the peak on yesterday, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both states.
Health Warning
Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
