Some groups on the political spectrum who offer only discontent: Ministers are moving forward with the job of economic renewal.

At the budget last week, we made the right choices for Britain, cutting the cost of energy with a £150 reduction in charges, safeguarding the health service and addressing the issue of youth deprivation by scrapping the two-child restriction. Measures were also taken that the revenue we raised through taxes was done fairly, with all paying their share but those with the greatest capacity bearing an appropriate burden.

Due to the decisions enacted, the budget created a more stable economic environment, curbing inflationary pressures and sovereign debt returns. This is vital for protecting our public services, when one pound in every ten expended by government goes on borrowing costs.

Advancing Financial Initiatives

The budget builds on the action we have already taken to boost financial conditions: providing £120bn in extra capital investment in such things as highways, railways and utilities; enacting the biggest planning reforms in a generation to favor construction, not impediments; promoting the development of Heathrow and Gatwick; and concluding commercial agreements with the EU, India and the US.

Collectively, these have allowed us to surpass our economic projections.

Renewing Our Nation

As I outlined at the party conference, the government’s purpose is nothing less than the renewal of our financial system, our localities and our government. By doing that, we will end decline and rebuild trust in our country.

We will challenge those on the both sides who only offer grievance and whose approach would lead to additional deterioration. I want to emphasize, increasing public debt or reimposing spending cuts – that is the politics of decline and I refuse to countenance it.

A Thorough Development Strategy

During an address next week, I will place the budget in context within the broader financial revitalization on which the government will be judged at the end of this parliament.

For us to realize the nationwide rejuvenation we seek, we must do more to encourage growth, to tackle inactivity among young people and to aim for stronger worldwide collaboration with our trading partners.

Administrative Streamlining Program

Our expansion agenda will include a refreshed emphasis on eliminating needless bureaucracy. Frequently it was those on the left who have preferred controls, but there is nothing progressive in regulations which merely act to raise the cost of living for the poorest, to impede commercial development unnecessarily, or prevent a Labour government achieving its aims.

That is why I am asking the business secretary to address the category of pointless gold-plating and unnecessary red tape that raise expenditures and obstruct our industrial strategy.

Benefits System Overhaul

Financial revitalization likewise requires that we must continue to overhaul social security. We took over an ineffective structure that resulted in impoverished youth going hungry and which wrote off young people as unfit for labor.

We should not endorse either part of that unsuccessful conservative approach. That is why we will do more to support adolescents in reaching their abilities.

For when people are neglected in your early career, if you are not given the support you need to address psychological challenges, or if you are merely dismissed because you are experiencing cognitive variations or handicaps, then it can confine you to a pattern of joblessness and neediness for decades.

This costs the country money, is detrimental to our output, but far more significantly, it takes away opportunity and overlooks capability. Any progressive administration worthy of the name should not overlook it.

That is why we have commissioned former health secretary to make practical recommendations to help young people with wellbeing challenges secure jobs, training or education – ensuring they are supported to succeed instead of excluded.

International Trade Enhancement

Ultimately, we must take further action to help our businesses conduct global commerce. No believable commercial perspective for Britain that does not position us as an open, trading economy.

We have to address the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement considerably harmed our commerce. You do not need to have a PhD in economics to know that establishing superfluous business impediments with your largest commercial ally will hinder development and boost prices.

Thus an aspect of our economic renewal will be persisting in advancing toward a enhanced business association with the EU. When we can access more affordable sustenance, boost growth and create jobs by having a stronger connection with Europe, we should.

A Substantial Strategy for Significant Challenges

A budget based on fair choices for Britain must be supported by resolve to achieve the economic renewal that the country needs.

By delivering a big, bold long-term plan, not a set of quick fixes, we will rejuvenate the country. We should evolve anew a meaningful society, with a important leadership, able collectively to undertake challenging tasks to regain control of our future.

By having a clear mission to rejuvenate our finances, our localities and our nation, we will deliver the change we promised – and then be assessed according to it in the forthcoming poll.
