The English Team to Launch UEFA Euro 2028 Journey at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium
The England national team will initiate their UEFA Euro 2028 journey at the the home of Manchester City, on the condition that they attain the relatively straightforward qualification for a competition staged throughout most of the United Kingdom and the Ireland.
Manchester City’s home ground has not hosted an Three Lions match since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were overcome 2-1 in a friendly, but is highly likely to welcome the national team for their first match on June 10, 2028.
England are scheduled to play their concluding group fixtures at the national stadium, but, if they top the preliminary round, their last-16 tie would occur at the Newcastle stadium. Securing the runner-up spot would mean beginning the playoffs at Everton’s ground.
Tournament Launch and Rally
The championship was unveiled at an event in central London on Wednesday night. Senior figures from European football’s governing body and the organizing bodies were confronted as they entered the site by approximately 50 activists, who called for the Israeli team to be expelled from global football because of the Gaza crisis.
Banners were held up with messages saying “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while protesters chanted: “Kick Israel out.”
Event Fixture List
The inaugural fixture of Euro 2028 will be staged at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on a Friday in June 2028, a match that will involve the Welsh team if they make it.
Wembley Stadium will host the two semi-final matches and the final, which will be held on July 9, 2028 with a commencement at late afternoon.
It is hoped that an earlier start, which will also be implemented for European club finals from next season, will attract households and help connect with a more diverse set of audiences.
Qualifying Teams
The Irish team are set to play their initial fixture at the Aviva Stadium and the Tartan Army would do the same at Hampden Park.
All four host countries’ teams will take part in the preliminary stage; two guaranteed slots will be held in reserve for any that miss out on the finals through the qualification path.
Stadiums and Elimination Phase
Aston Villa’s stadium and Spurs’ ground finalize the event’s nine venues. All will hold at least one elimination game, with the last eight staged at every host’s main arena.
The qualification draw will be staged in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a venue city last year when it was revealed the Belfast stadium could not be renovated in time, on December 6, 2026.
