Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
